Description of units

  • South West Desert : This unit was split into two separate units in 2021 south west desert north and south west desert south.

  • SOUTH WEST DESERT NORTH - Mostly public land, this is a HAMS unit and has a good amount of roads as well as areas to get away from roads with a days hike, this is a very dry unit and can be a hot miserable hunt however with the longer archery hunts in the middle of the rut this can be a fun hunt,  expect to hunt 320"-340" bulls. 

  • SOUTH WEST DESERT SOUTH -  Mostly public land, this unit has more feed and cover  with a decent amount of springs,  unit consisting of pinon pine and juniper with sagebrush valleys.  Unit has plenty of roads as well as areas you can get to with a days hike.   The average bulls on this unit is 330"-350" however there are 370"+ bulls taken every year.

  • Mt.Dutton :  Mountainous public land, decent road access,  with horseback and hiking style hunting you can access most of the unit,  steep rocky terrain with deep canyons.  Not high elk density early in the year but later hunts elk will migration from ascent units.  Average bull on this unit is 330"-340" with some 350"+ taken every year.

  • Panguitch Lake:  One of the best trophy units in the state,  good road access with  moderate terrain on most of the unit,  plenty of public land to hunt, with some private that you can navigate around.  Over the past few years several 400" bulls taken on the unit,  expect to hunt 370+ bulls

  • Beaver East: One of the best trophy units in the state,  Steep mountainous terrain on most of the unit with good road access,  mostly public land in higher elevations with some private near I15, unit has produced several 390+ bulls over the recent years,  expect to hunt 360+ bulls.
